I read cookbooks like most people read novels. I just really enjoy picking up a cookbook and looking at it over and over again. Of course, I have my favorites. Some are just more loved and worn out than others. For me, relaxing means curling up on the couch with a stack of my favorite cookbooks and dreaming about what I'm going to make next.
My Cookbook Wish List:
This book hasn't even been released yet, but I know I want to read it. I've followed the Smitten Kitchen blog for a while now. Always amazed at the photography.
The release date for this book is October 30, 2012. I have almost all of Ina Garten's cookbooks. I swear if I had to pick just ONE chef on Food Network to cook for me, it would be Ina. She is my Julia Child.
I know this is a little far fetched since this cookbook retails at $450, however if money was no object, I would definitely buy this set. It looks like a piece of art just sitting on a shelf.
If this cookbook is anything like their spaghetti sauce, then it will be fabulous. Italian food on the grill seems interesting.

This is the first I'm hearing of Rao's On The Grill, but that one just went on my wishlist. It looks perfect for summer! Pioneer Woman's cookbook is next on my wishlist as well.

DeleteI love Rao's sauces too...we use the vodka sauce at least twice a month for a fast dinner! All of these books look great, but I really want Ina's new book...and Giada's. I have so many cookbooks...but I always find room to add more to my collection!!!
ReplyDeleteAren't the Rao sauces fabulous? Yep, Vodka sauce over cheese filled tortellini is a go to meal for me:) I know how you feel about having so many cookbooks. I have a whole bookcase devoted to them. Have fun on your trip!
Deletei love all of Ina's cookbooks + have had tons of success with her recipes, so i'd definitely pick that one up! if you're a sucker for mini-foods like i am, you should check out Peter Callahan's Bite by Bite - that's the latest one i bought!

DeleteIna has and always will be one of my favs. One day I dream of sitting down and reading the modernist cuisine for the sheer pleasure of reading like a good novel. (notice I said I dream of that) For me I always go back to the classics- I keep 3 Betty Crocker's at my fingertips One that belonged to my Grandmother one from my Mom and One they gave me 24 years ago when I got married. I get a kick out of the different eras of cooking. I am also a sucker for any of John Hadamuscins cookbooks. He is not well known but I own all of his books and it's got great reading as well as photography. Lastly I am inspired daily by so many wonderful bloggers that I find myself reading blogs more than I watch tv.
ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with a Betty Crocker cookbook. We have an older BC cookbook as well at our house. It has so many classic recipes. I'm going to have to look into Hadamuscins cookbooks. I agree.... I'm so inspired by food blogs. I find myself searching blogs for recipes instead of looking up a recipe in a cookbook.
DeleteLately I've been using Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc at Home cookbook a lot. It has a lot of great pictures and walks you step by step through each technique. It's fantastic. The other that I've been using a lot is Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything: The Basics.
